George, Fiona and I did the gull count this evening (to avoid the wild weather forecast for tomorrow). About 100 LBBs at 4:30pm increased gradually with 430 (5:30pm), 1350 (6pm), 3600 (6:30pm), with a final count of 5900 (7pm). More gulls were still arriving so this probably topped 6,000. Herring gull 68, Bh gull 15, single adult GBB and 4 Yellow-legged gulls.
The 5 Pink-footed geese were still in the fields opposite keeping separate from any other geese and always alert. The Canada geese were scattered at various spots on the reservoir with 2 or 3 Greylags among them. Greylag numbers had increased with a conservative count of 150 in the field opposite. Lovely evening, going to be a little different tomorrow it seems.
