Sea Lion Attack Penguin

Coming home from the hunt, Emperor penguins try to make it safely past a lurking leopard seal. It seems to work okay — until the arctic predator decides to raise the stakes and attacks the penguins on the riverbanks. This sea lion chases a penguin on land, and the sea lion is surprisingly fast. He grabs the penguin, but only for a few seconds before the penguin frees himself and continues his escape, but the sea lion doesn’t give up and eventually catches and kills the penguin. That was so close. I can’t deny that I was cheering for the penguin. A sea lion gives a dramatic chase and catches a king penguin during the early morning hours at Volunteer Point in the Falkland Islands.

It was amazing to see just how far the sea lion galloped, up across the dunes and toward the king penguin and Gentoo colonies on land. It’s clear that the sea lion exerted a substantial amount of energy obtaining this meal based on how many times he had to rest afterward, and then collapsed into the water when he was back on the beach. Notice also how the sea lion grabs the penguin by its back, seemingly fearful it will get its eye poked by the penguin’s bill or whacked in the nose by the penguin’s rock-hard flippers. Yes, believe it or not, penguin flippers are tough enough to inflict a great amount of pain or even break bones!

Cheetah/Leopard Attack On Ostrich

The ostrich in this video is fighting hard to fend off a hungry cheetah, but once the big bird is on the ground, it’s almost impossible for it to get back up, and the cheetah makes the kill. Even though the cheetah is better equipped to hunt than an ostrich because ostriches are much larger than cheetahs, killing one is a difficult task for a cheetah. An ostrich’s feet are enormous, and a single smack to the head would instantly kill a cheetah. The ostrich is also a fast animal, reaching speeds of up to 50 km/h, so even though the cheetah is the fastest land mammal, it would need to use all its speed, to catch an ostrich. Let’s see how this plays out. The cheetah stands there watching and slowly approaches the ostrich, which has no idea what is going on.

When the ostrich realizes she is being pursued, she quickens her pace and starts galloping. There are two ostriches, one which runs past the other. She appears to be yelling at the other to step back! The cheetah decides to pursue the second ostrich instead because it is slower. The chase is joined by a second cheetah, and the two of them attack the ostrich from behind. The two cheetahs appear to be peering beneath a lady’s skirt due to the ostrich’s massive feathers and buttocks. The ostrich fights back and continues to run, but a third cheetah arrives, assisting in bringing the ostrich down and choking it to death, providing them with a tasty meal. Before checking in, wildlife enthusiasts decided to take a short drive to an area to see if they could spot something interesting, and they did. At a certain location, they found a leopard near the road staring at an ostrich.
