“Springtime in Australia means baby birds everywhere! I was in my backyard and saw a distressed bird trying to dig through the bricks outside my bedroom window wall. I then heard the cries of baby birds and didn’t think much of it at first, as every year the birds nest in the gutter of our roof. But for a couple of days, the cries never stopped. That’s when I realised they were stuck inside the wall and couldn’t get out. My grandad was over and decided to help my sister and I cut a hole in the wall. Once we did, we thought we cut it in the wrong spot until we realised, they were behind the foil. We saved two very hungry baby starling birds and put them in a box outside so the mum could come back to feed and look after them.”
