Penberry Reservoir this morning

DSC_6384

The sun was shining this morning (at least we think it was the sun!) so we headed up north to see if the female Lesser Scaup was still at Penberry Reservoir. It was still there, avidly feeding most of the time. It rested for brief spells between feeding bouts, occasionally preening and shaking its wings, but we could only ever see its underwing pattern and not the upper wing panel etc which we had hoped to see well.

There was not a lot else obviously on the reservoir, apart from numerous bathing gulls (mostly Herring), 16 Canada Geese, a Little Grebe and a Moorhen.

We then headed up to Fishguard where there were fewer gulls than expected. Apart from 2 GC Grebes in Goodwick Harbour, we only noted a single Razorbill and one, possibly two GN Divers outside the harbour but some distance away in the bay.
