Fishguard/Goodwick this afternoon

DSC6142

For a bit of a change of scenery we headed up to Goodwick Harbour and Lower Town Fishguard Harbour this afternoon. Small numbers of mixed gulls included at least 6 Mediterranean Gulls (mixed ages). There was a likely different 2nd winter bird at Lower Town. The usual/expected waders included 25+ Oystercatchers, at least 14 Turnstones, 2 Redshanks and 2-3 Curlews.

A single adult Sandwich Tern flew in off the sea to rest on a one of the bouys in Goodwick Harbour.

Mostly Black-headed Gulls but several Mediterranean Gulls too

Two Dippers were present feeding and resting along the Gwaun, just upstream from Lower Town – at a regular spot. One, a ringed male, was singing regularly. We wondered if he might have been the same ringed male that we observed just a short distance away upstream about a year ago.

Now you see me, then you don’t!

On the subject of Ring Ouzels, Chris Orsman emailed us yesterday about two (possibly the same birds observed there the previous day) that he saw at Trevallen on Saturday morning, plus a Dartford Warbler there.
